2021 Hyundai Elantra Vs 2020
Hyundai went for a complete redesign with the 2021 version of the Elantra, stepping up its game with modern exterior styling, higher quality interior materials, new technology features, and upgraded powertrains.
2021 Hyundai Elantra vs 2020 Hyundai Elantra
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra is almost unrecognizable vs the 2020 model that it replaces. The fully reimagined sedan changed more than it kept the same from the previous model year.
Technology Upgrades
The 2021 Hyundai Elantra now features the Hyundai Elantra Key, which allows drivers to start the engine and unlock the doors from a smartphone. This incredibly useful feature is great in many scenarios from misplaced keys to accidentally locking the keys in the car.
The touchscreen and infotainment system also got a big upgrade for 2021. The Elantra can be built with an all-new 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation, as well as a brand-new digital driver’s instrument cluster. For sound options, drivers can now opt for a Bose premium stereo system for which wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay come standard on all models.
Interior Upgrades
The technology upgrades definitely improve the look and feel of the Elantra’s cabin. The screens make the cabin feel more expensive and polished, which is aided by the fact that the 2021 Elantra is bigger than its predecessors and the cabin materials have been upgraded as well.
Powertrain Upgrades
The all-new Elantra also gets a powertrain upgrade for 2021 to a Smartstream 2.0-litre engine that provides 147 horsepower and can be paired with an intelligent variable transmission. It delivers 9.1 L/100km city and 6.3 L/100km highway fuel economy, which is not as good as the previous model year.
While Hyundai did create a hybrid powertrain for the 2021 Elantra, it is not making its way to Canada currently.
2021 Hyundai Elantra Models
Starting at $17,899, the 2021 Hyundai Elantra is offered in three models in Canada: Essential, Preferred, and Ultimate. The base Essential model comes standard with heated front seats, 8-inch touchscreen display, and smartphone integration.
The Preferred model starts at $21,899, and the Ultimate model starts at $25,599. Both upgraded models include more driver-assist features, comfort features, and the intelligent variable transmission.
