Prices, Trims, and Performance
Let’s first get prices out of the way. The base trim Challenger SXT starts at 37,665 and is $8,000 more expensive than the 1LS Camaro, which starts at $29,598. The 2022 Dodge Challenger trims are available in eleven models ranging from the SXT to the SRT Super Stock, which starts at $111,265.
The Camaro has three trims, the 1LS, 1LT, and 2LT starting at $40,393. This is a considerable price difference. However, like with all things in life, you get what you pay for. The SXT has a 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic engine capable of producing 268 pound-feet of torque and 303 horsepower. All Camaro trims have a 2.0-litre turbocharged six-speed manual transmission capable of only 295 pound-feet of torque and 275 horsepower, significantly less than the SXT.
The Super Stock can’t be compared to any other muscle car on the market today. The Super Stock has an insane power of 707 pound-feet of torque and 807 horsepower. It’s rated as the fastest muscle car on the planet, and you’ll get to 100km/h in just 3.25 seconds.
However, if you compare the Challenger R/T to the 2LT trim (which is around the same price range at $43,560), you’ll still find that the Dodge outperforms the Camaro with a 5.7-litre V8 that gives out a maximum torque of 400 pound-feet and 372 horsepower.
Technology and Safety
It’s more fun on the Challenger compared to the Camaro. The SXT comes standard with Dodge’s unique fast-responding Uconnect system, built-in voice commands, mobile phone integration, a 276-watt Alpine audio system, dual-zone automatic air conditioning, and a 21.33cm touchscreen.
The Camaro has phone integration, single-zone air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a six-speaker sound system. The Challenger has a lot to offer when it comes to safety. Adaptive cruise control, anti-locking brakes, traction control, and curtain airbags are just a few of the safety features. A major plus point for the Camaro is that the NHTSA gave the car a top rating. It also has a forward-collision warning and a blind-spot monitoring system.
