2023 RAM 2500 Rebel: Our Review
A new package for the 2500 line has arrived; it’s the 2023 RAM 2500 Rebel. This new trim is in-between the Laramie and the Power Wagon trims and, as is the case with RAM, offers the same features as the 1500 Rebel. Let’s check what this RAM Rebel package is about.
Powerful Engine Available
You can get the standard gas engine for the 2500 Rebel, which is the 6.4-litre Hemi V8 with 410 hp, which allows you to tow 5,400 kg. However, the 6.7-litre Cummins Turbo Diesel I6 Engine is the main attraction here. This engine delivers 370 hp with an impressive 850 lb-ft of torque. It allows you to tow up to 7,600 kg and also comes with a six-speed automatic instead of an eight-speed like the gas version.
Great Off-Road Features
The Rebel is well-fitted for off-road driving. It’s built on a 98% high-strength steel frame with Bilstein Gas-Charged Monotube Shocks that have a five-link rear coil suspension.
There are also steel skid plates underneath, which protect the fuel tank and transfer case on the regular version. A brush guard also comes with the 6.7L Cummins engine. The vehicle also comes with 33-inch all-terrain tires and either 18- or 20-inch black diamond-cut aluminium wheels.
A limited-slip differential also allows for better engine power optimisation while preventing traction loss. This is important when driving on heavy snow, sand or mud.
Interior and Exterior
The interiors come in three options: cloth, Bristol Leather or Natura Plus leather. They all give a sporty look, which includes a black door trim.
There are some important tech features in the cabin, too. There’s a new 12-inch digital cluster with off-road pages, tow information, and the ability to adjust wheel articulation in 3D graphics.
Outside, you’ll find Rebel badges, a unique grill and a Mopar Sport Hood. There’s also a WARN ZEON-12 winch optional with the 6.4L HEMI engine.
There is some new mirror news, too. The new telescopic trailer tow mirrors can face the rear or forward and they can both retract and expand. This is great for trailers and gives you an enhanced road view. Also available is a digital rearview mirror that has a new side camera with a screen to give video feedback from the rear-facing camera. You can pair it with the new exterior mirror cameras and divide the mirror into three parts to check the sides, too.
And there’s a Trailer Reverse Steering Control system, which does just what its name implies: it lets you steer the trailer with a knob while the system controls the truck’s steering wheel.
Conclusion
The 2023 Rebel trim is a good choice for Ram 2500 drivers who want a more aggressive appearance and better off-road handling, but it comes with enough features for all types of users.
